I'm ashamed to say that I was an active supporting member of the cult
of Scientology for over 20 years. First as a paying public, then an org
staff member and then as a Sea Org member. Its been several years since I've
been in an org and now that I've backed off from it I can see Scientology
much clearer. I'm sorry to say that Scientology in my opinion is just one
elaborate con.

One of the few bodies of data that might be of benefit to mankind may
be the lower levels, however according to the book "L. Ron Hubbard Messiah
or Madman?" by Bent Corydon and L. Ron Hubbard, Jr. this tech wasn't
developed by Ron at all. It is actually the development of several different
honest researchers.

The upper levels were created as a theta trap. They evaluate for the
P.C. and tell him what he should find in order to be a "good" preclear. The
processes themselves are rigged to create confusion as to who the P.C. is
and who they aren't. If it wasn't for all the secrecy and nonsense, the
upper levels would be considered some kind of a Is Fi joke.

Another body of data which Scientology likes to brag about is the green
on white, which is supposed to be Ron's gift to business and organization!
All you have to do is look at your local org to see what a double edged
sword that is. It isn't by chance that the staff is overworked, under paid,
and dare I use a new word to me..ABUSED. I think the word ABUSE has many
applications in the experiences of both Scientology staff and public. Beware
of your green on white policy letters. Blended neatly in among the good is
allot of bad. While we are talking about church policy I'd like to recommend
another book to read which is "Combatting Cult Mind Control" by Steve
Hassan. This book will give you lots of insight on how Scientology uses
destructive mind control to use and abuse its staff and public.

I quote from page 104 of "L. Ron Hubbard Messiah or Madman"

" While "white Scientology" (techniques and datawhich have the
potential to assist an individual to become more independent and
self-determined) is promoted by the Church as the entirety of the subject,
there is also a dark side to Scientology. A dark side which makes
individuals permanently dependent upon the Church, and, instead of
self-determined, "Ron-determined..."
The marriage of potentially liberating methodologies with enslaving
ones, the mixing of truth with lies, and love with hate: that is the strange
story of L. Ron Hubbard and his Church.
Hubbard was a "user." He used freedom. He used goodness. Helping others
feel better, understand more, communicate better-this was all fine, so long
as he considered that it increased his power.
He helped others so as to own them; to create gratitude and trust and
give himself authority or "altitude." He "set up" people to be manipulated
by first assisting them to feel better, to have "wins" and so forth.
There are those who insist that all "gains" and "wins" in Scientology
are delusory- that all the counseling is brainwashing. That's nonsense. The
trap is much more sophisticated than that.
He was a man of many methods. "

When I first left Scientology I came to realize that there was allot
about myself that was unhealthy. I think unhealthy is a good word. My
attitude, my life, my whole sense of being seemed to be damaged. For being
someone who was "on the bridge to total freedom" it came as a real shock to
realize that I was mentally worse off than the "wogs" I had made fun of. Not
having any faith or trust in Scientology I looked outside of the cult for
answers. I wanted to share with you, my fellow Interneters, who have perhaps
been screwed by SCN that there are answers and self improvement outside of
Scientology.
